Envy you guys on the perch. I love to catch them -- both saltwater species and fresh. Used to really pound the rainbow seaperch on the groins inside the south Yaquina jetty. A perch outing would make sense for a first trip for estuary fish.

Was a great day on the big blue today. Didn't go to Baltimore Rock because Jesse's friend Chris had no experiance yak fishibng. We went to the north around the Lighthouse. I caught a ton of fish, 5 lings, 2 cabbies and 3 greenling. Only kept one 25 inch Ling and the fat 22 inch cabby. Jesse couldn't stop catching underlings, but he did catch a couple Blacks, i didn't get one black. i left before they did so i hope he got a keeper. Chris caught one underling by the time i left.

Best conditions in  quit a while, it was great to get out there without heavy swell.

I decided to go out at Empire lake after the Sunset trip and see if i could scare up a Trout upgrade. managed a 18 1/4 incher

Without much yak experience for Jesse's friend, why no PFD?
Unless it's one of those hidden self inflating type and not visible in this picture.

Way to go Roy!

I'd kill for a day on the salt (or the time to come visit you)

The water was beautiful Roy. I could see my jig 15 feet down!!

Insayn, didn't even notice that he took it off, he had it on earlier. He's not inexperienced in the salt, he's got his dive cert. but he still should wear his PFD..

Spot, your gonna have to make some time...

Roy I found the blacks that you were looking for. They were schooled up next to the two rocks that you have to paddle around to get to the portage. I decided to cast over to it on our way back in and hooked up with a nice black with in seconds. Gave it two more casts and landed another black followed by a greenling then called it a day. I ended up boating 11 fish. 2 Cabies, 1 big greenling, 4 lingcod and 4 chunky blacks. Chris got one more ling in the boat and lost one right at the boat after Roy left.
 Another good day at Sunset.
Enjoy the ride!

The lings and Cabie were all to close to legal to tell, and with out my hog trough I played it safe and put them all back. I did keep the other blacks though and Cris's family came over for a fish fry latter that day MMMM. No up grades. The biggest one was 18 inches. They were all nice and fat though so they fed both families with no problem.
Enjoy the ride!
