I was thinking about getting out there at about 6:30 am on Friday. I am up for a trip down Simpson as long as it looks like it will be worth while. The Northern wind will suck on the way back, I will still like to give it a try if the ocean is not to torn up.

Ok,I'll meet you there at 6:30 on Friday
How'd you guys do?

Last year at Sunset the wind and waves picked up on me once I had a limit of blacks and had to retrieve my crab traps in ten footers from the south west. First trap had a limit of crab so I threw all under six inch over and pulled my other trap and kept four of the biggest crab from it and dumped the rest. Turned around and noticed due to rough water and great crabbing I knocked my pole in and I did not leash it. So leason learned ALWAYS leash the poles no matter what the weather is when you start fishing
yeeha! i learned the leashing lesson the hard way also.

Love to hit the waves, but I have to wait till ORC. After the ORC I'm staying at Beverly Beach and going to launch from the beach if weather permits.

Rough water is a good excuse though.  Try THIS for "stupid".

Went to Big Creek Reservoir to try out my repaired dry suit and to practice self rescue with my SOT (never had before).  So, naturally, I brought along a pole or two.  Thought there might be bass in addition to the stocker trout.  Well, no bass that I found.  But, while casting my bass spoon, I knocked my ultralight trout rod out of the flush mount  rear holder.  #$%^!

Took me about 1.75 hours to "fish" it back up from the bottom.  I can't believe I actually got it back.  ........ missed dinner though.  And the wifey thought I should have just left it there!  Imagine that!   :-\

Time to make more leashes!
