What you need is a cradle net.
Properly mounted to the side of your yak, the fish would never have to come out of the water and would be nearly completely subdued during the photo process.

Stand by...iHop went to Joanne's Fabrics and got four yards of nylon mesh (the kind they make shower scrubbers from). Gonna have my daughter the seamstress help me build a "Dino Hammock". I'll stretch the mesh between the hull and ama right at water level. I think I'll be able to safely land fish into it (instead of using a net), measure and release them unharmed. Well, that's the theory. I'll post photos when it's ready and, hopefully, video of my "wet net" in action soon,

I'm looking forward to the results!
One of the problems you may run in to is sturgeon schutes tangling in the mesh.  I've got a line on some material I use at work that's similar to the coated nets that are gaining in popularity.  I'll try to remember to post the specs on Tuesday when I return to work.
