This thread has made me realize just how ridiculously over sized all of my halibut/tuna gear is for use out of a kayak.  So, I went to Fisherman’s Marine and picked up a 8’ 6” medium light two piece Ugly Stik Tiger and an Avet 5.8MXL loaded with 30lb Maxima.  I figure this will not only double as a near shore halibut and bottom fish combo, but would be useful casting to albacore offshore out of my Trophy.
