The structure in the area you mentioned looks fishy, but I've never personally been there.  Lots of boat traffic in that area, but the south side of allen looks really nice.

Yeah that's what I thought. Looks like  nice easy water out of the way of rhe main currents. And I like you said loks a bit fishy.. never know until I try.

That area is a pretty well known spot for lings.  It gets pressure, but not as much as it would if the currents were easier to deal with (they are much faster between the islands than they are in the strait).  A tide swing of under 4 feet is what you're looking for.  Launch on the outgoing, return on the incoming.  doesn't hurt to be obvious.

When the current isn't ripping, it's a nice area to explore though.

I'm still laughing at the midol crack!  Hilarious!  While bill doesn't need anyone to defend him he brings up a valid point that it is personal responsibility that is key to someone's safety. That being said, seems we've been hearing a lot about people drowning... It is a kindness to ask is someone has the safety gear necessary. I'm still looking for my sea lion rape whistle... West marine doesn't have any in stock.

Well Thank You   ;D
I can see to some point if someone got on their soap box and started telling other what they must have with them before hitting the water.  Craig just humbly asked the question, which is why I am so surprised  Richard went on such rant.

Cohoman,
Glad to see you are looking to be safe out there.
I have fished around the west to south side corner of Washington Park for bottom fish.   Couple of years ago from a Tandem.   I remember the current requiring one of us to paddle to try and hold position while the other fished.   As soon as we lost ground to the current, we dragged bottom and lost lots of gear.   Sorry that is about all I remember and can contribute,  but wanted to try and add to answering your question.  I know you didn't post just to see a bad Jerry Springer show erupt.
