Scappoose man drowns while fishing in kayak in Columbia River

Sad news.

Very sad news.  Apparently his family was waiting for him across the river.  My sincerest condolences go out to those he left behind.

I think most guys have a knife secured to their PFD. Based on what I have read it sounds like he didn't have a PFD on at the time of the incident. I don't know any hard details but It's a bummer either way...

Yeah it sucks either way, but it looks like a PFD and/or safety knife would have saved the guy.
