But salmon was intermittently barbless last year.

Z

Really?

-Allen

Yep. On the regs for Area 10 last year it was:

June1-30: barbless
July 1-15: no specification
July 16- Aug 15: Barbless
Aug 16- Nov 30: no spec
Dec1- Jan31: barbless

This year there's no mention of barbless in the area rules just overall. Oh well.. barbless it is from now on.

Z

Don't hold me to this, but I think the intent was to be barbless, whether they specifically called it out.  It's been so long since I recall a barb ok rule in PS that I just use barbless hooks without giving it a second thought.

Cool. Well that's the rule now so that's what I'll be doing. Actually about half of my gear is barbless already. The thought of impaling myself and not being able to pull it easily just sucks. And I've also noticed that it really doesn't make that much of a difference anyway.

Very good question. I actually raised the same question on NCKA and had a pretty good discussion. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,12092.0.html

T- One line on one reel; doesn't matter if you use a spreader or not, you're still allowed two hooks or lures.

Z- My hook choice is usually determined by what I'm using. If bait, I prefer a circle hook over an octopus. Just make sure you don't try and do a hard hookset with the circles- just wind her down tight and hold on. Siwashes I usually reserve for lures.

Rob, are you still heading out to freshwater? I may see you out there. Gona try to target some lings and rock. Then maybe float around the bay for flounder. Bring your digging gear for clams if like.

Zee and I will be at Dungeness Spit in the morning.  Leaving Seattle at 4AM.  It's so tempting to keep going and join you at Freshwater, but my fear is we have a small window on the water, so I'd rather get on sooner, instead of driving the extra 45 minutes.  Any chance you want to hit Dungy with us?

Allen and Z  - Would love to fish with you guys again but my plan is to take the ferry from Edmonds tonight and head straight to Freshwater bay; catch a few Z's (no pun) and be there bright and early.  Sounds like I might run into Floating Cowboys.

Looking forward to this weekends results--Good Luck to us all  ;D ;D

Hey Rob it was nice to meet you this morning. I hope you had a good time. I'll let you know about the salmon.
I was targeting rock fish and lings. I caught 2 blacks and that was it. As we all know you can only keep one rock fish so that was about it for me. No lings. I did catch a bull kelp and rock. anyway, it was beutiful this morning and I count my blessings every day that I get to live here.

Matt-  Very nice meeting you today, I had a great time.  Freshwater Bay is a really pretty spot and yeah, you are so lucky to live on that coast.  No fish for me but a very fun paddle in good company.

Let me know when you want to do the salmon fishing run to Salt Creek Park. 8)
