How much line you have left on the spool?  And how much are you looking to add?

-Allen

Hah!  Well you should of said what I said instead of asking a QUESTION?  Then you would not of had to say that's what you were sort of getting at? AND IT WAS MY FIRST POST how refreshing!

Yeah, I know.  But then what would you have posted for your first post?   :P :P :P

-Allen

Well, whatever my first post would have been would be a lot more intelligent than what you have in the upper right corner of your header?

Excuse me?

Hah!  Not really ... he's new here.  Maybe doesn't know that "Hah" and emoticons mean it's all in good fun.

Back to the original question.  I don't like the blood knot splice.  I prefer the uni to uni for this application

Your knot is only a weakness if it is a poor knot or poorly tied.

Which regularly used knot has 100% breaking strength?  I don't think any of them do.   ::)

Thanks guys for all the information, but apparently I will be sticking to spinning rods.  Me, cousins, and 2 fellow kayak anglers went to Hoodsport on Sunday.  My first cast with my baitcaster....F'N BIRDNEST!!!!  I cleared the birdnest and set the rod behind me and busted out my trusty spinning rod and reel, and then the sleigh rides began.  Chum sure put up a good fight.   ;D
Ocean Kayak Drifter Transformed into an Angler edition!!!  Booyah

Malibu Mini-X outfitted with the infamous Green Milk crate!

Malibu Mini-X traded for a Ocean Kayak Prowler 15 and I still have the Green Milk Crate!

Another 2 cents...

Not all braids are equal.  I like an ordinary blood knot to splice braids like the Tuf-line XP.  The surface of this line has some texture to it and I'm confident an ordinary blood knot bites into itself and won't slip.  With a slick surface line, like the 'microfilament' Spectra PowerPro, I don't trust ordinary blood knots to hold.  The technique I learned is to double back the ends before tying the knot - essentially it makes the knot twice as thick and gives it something bite into.  (A double-uni works as well and can be tied the same way for slick braids.)
