You guys crack me up...  had to go to wiki to see what the heck a fluffier was. I am so naive....

So the answer and proposed plan I posted in the elders section.  I just don't want anyone to be able to google it up too easily.  Looks like everyone involved in this cray discussion should have access.  Go nuts...laugh, comment, ridicule, suggest...  I'm all ears!! Seriously!!!

I'm not yet experienced enough for the Elder's forum (or to be a fluffer), but my guess is that you're going to be picking up some kind of research grant or contract to tag large halibut? (Or do you just want to compete with the commercials with the computerized fishing setup?)

Did you ever get a response to your voltage question?

If the system needs 24 volts, are you going to be putting two 12 volts in series? It'll need to be a pretty substantial battery to handle 20 amp surges and still work in your -10 deg outings. (brrr) I'd guess they'd need to be at least 25 Ah batts.
Does the oil wind jigger have battery recommendations? You could probably give them a quick call too and they could point you in the best direction.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Thanks Skidplate!  the basic idea was to commercially jig cod and pollock.  It's the only non limited entry or quota fishery available here in Alaska.

I should be close enough to my truck that I can have two or three sets of the batteries available.  I've only experienced cod and pollock from a sportfishing perspective.  But I know I have landed close to 35 or more per day using one rod and one hook.  Its a year round fishery so I don't need to do it in the dead of winter.

Alll this stuff is the fun stuff.  I am finding the not so fun stuff..processing the fish & selling the fish is an awful lot of work.  Lol.  Might just sell the fish in the round to a processor.

The current goal is 1,000 pounds over a weekend.  That's roughly 100 Pacific cod or 250 pollock per day!

I'm just looking for more of an excuse to hit the water even more than I do now!!

I think proof of concept will be done with a lower end electric reel.

I figured it out before you even posted the picture.  Your subtle clues in the original post were enough for me! I think it's a great idea and there definitely is a market for what you're planning.  Everybody is going green!  I can't wait to see this hatch from the little embryo that's forming now.

Yup. You had it. The others were also commercial fishing but not the correct one.

It should be interesting. New season starts jan 20 I think. But no hurry to get out. We will see!!!!
