For a winning fish you are looking for a cab over 27" or a ling over 35-38" .... A rockfish won't win unless the fishing is REALLY slow so just keep you limit for the fish taco feed and don't worry about upgrading. You only get to keep one cab so there is no point in keeping a little one. Wait for a big one or none at all..... Have fun.

Thanks for the correction there Craig.

And Bill is spot on about winning sized fish.

Some are lucky to catch any fish at all.

Just a hint --- don't fish like Romainian Redneck.....

Also, the safe bet is to not keep anything red.  Unless, you are very good at fish identification and can remember which one of the three common ones are legal.  I always forget so I toss any red one back. I just looked them up again and yelloweye rockfish and canary rockfish are illegal to possess.

If it's red, rub the lower jawline.  If it feel like sandpaper, it's a Vermillion and you can keep it.  All others go back.

The dust has settled, my bags are unpacked, and my freezer is full.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the ORC and festivities.  ALso wanted to express my gratitude to those who were willing to help me out with gear, transport, tours, cleanup, showing me around, and just having a good time.

I had a blast.

Hopefully I'll get to come in the future.

Thanks again for the great weekend

It was awesome to fish with you on game day.  You looked like an Oregon natural.

Come down and fish with us any time bro!   8)

Glad you were able to make it down to ORC Andy. Would love to see more Alaskan participation in the future. Would also like to join in on you northerner's party at Whisky Gulch. Hope to make that happen soon.
Maybe bring a few more "southerner's" up too. Don't know if 115 people could even fit at Whiskey Gultch but it would be interesting for sure.
Hope you had a great time at our shindig......... looked like you did. And coming in with a  top 10 catch is super cool too. Look forward to seeing you again... either here or there.
