Got to try and put this on the calender for next year.  A dory boat off the beach at Cape Kiwanda was how I caught my first salmon and got initiated into ocean fishing as a kid.  Wanting to fish the ocean is what got me into kayak angling.  Salmon fishing from the kayak off Cape Kiwanda is something I will just have to try.  Hopefully more than once -

This was my first year doing ocean salmon.   I'm a complete addict now.   If you haven't tried it,  I highly recommend it.  BUT,  make sure you are CAPABLE of ocean fishing,  or you may become a statistic.
