I only have three goals for my first year of sea kayak fishing:
    1) Meet some new people
    2) Catch a halibut
    3) Catch enough Salmon so that I can use my annual Cold Bay trip for waterfowl hunting.

I need to get my daughter some pink salmon from the kayak this year. I'm sure she'll knock em dead quick. Along those lines this is the year I teach her to tie her own fishing knots and start using the paddle. The progression will continue, until she's fishing on her own kayak knockin back the grown ones. What else? I just fish, I don't have specific goals for a fish, a location or a particular place. Although it would be nice to hook up to a grown steelhead on the Sol Duc this spring, but my luck is never like that. Best of luck to your 2015 fishing dreams.

Just two two two two goals...

#1 - Stop learning the same lesson over and over
#1 - Stop learning the same lesson over and over
#1 - Stop learning the same lesson over and over (OK, not sure this will ever happen)
#2 - Have as much fun in my second year of kayak angling as I did in the first (but, I know this will happen!)

Must be an important lesson.  You've got me curious.  Is there a good story?

I've been a bit busy to post much but I've been thinking about it on my morning drive for the past few weeks.  It's an interesting question and always fun to see what motivates other people.  Many posts have been similar to what I've come up with.  One common theme I really like is wanting to get others involved in the sport.

Many of my thoughts involve things new to me.
1. Fish some new water.
2. Learn a new technique.
3. Enter some SUP fish in AOTY.

Social elements are also involved.
1. Introduce more people to the sport.
2. Meet more people from this site.
3. Help more people catch their first salmon.  I see many people want to catch their first.  Lets kill two birds with one stone.  If you still haven't caught your first salmon by September pm me and we'll get it done.  I never like to say any fishing is a sure thing but the Gorge in Fall is about as close as it gets.  (As I effectively kill the fall bite for everyone.)

Tournaments
1. Try to fish most of the one day kayak tournaments.  Not so much for the competition but more to meet other kayak anglers.
2. Place top 5 in a tournament open to powerboats.  I'd love to have company on this one and make it a team effort.

Random
1. Appreciate my time on the water while keeping in mind those to ill or injured to be there with me.
2. Improve my base line fitness level to increase strength, range and stamina in preparation for the unexpected.

New here so my goals are simple,
purchase a kayak
learn to use it safely on some lakes around Portland
Catch some fish in the lakes around Portland
Do some salmon fishing round Sauvie Island
Do some surfcasting on the coast this summer
Find some people to go out in some of the bays on the coast to start learning how to do ocean fishing from a kayak
Stay safe

Our annual tournament, the Oregon Rockfish Classic (ORC) is a great opportunity to get salty if you're ready and comfortable with trying it out by then.  Probably will be mid-July.  Even if you don't feel up for actually fishing the ocean by then still come on out and you'll have a chance to meet tons of people from here.  It's also a heck of a good party.

I'll keep an eye out for it, would probably be a good chance to get out in the salt water.
Thanks
