July 11 was the date that sounded most likely.  I think they're waiting on the regs coming out to see if cabezon is still a July 1 opener.

Not super familiar with OR regs, so no idea what is open in early May.

I might help cook again, but organizing the taco feed is (probably) going to need to fall to someone else.

Where are the festivities usually held.  Some old threads say Beverly Beach... is that still the case?  Is that the best place to camp?  Would love a little guidance from some ORC vets on where is the best place to stay... and how it all goes down.  Thanks in advance!

Beverly Beach ??? You must be going back a long ways.

Check page 2 of the Events threads--- there are 17 entries dealing with ORC from just last year. There might be a few more on page 3. This year should be very similar to last year.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

All of the events except the weigh-in happen at Chinook Bend Campground. The weigh-in happens at the launch so that people don't have to pack up their kayaks and get back to the campground for weigh-in.

Most people choose to stay at Chinook Bend Campground.

2014 official announcement thread.

2014 Fish Taco Feed thread.

Both are great threads to read on what to expect for the ORC this year.  The first one especially is rather lengthy, so get a beer (or three) and settle in to read through it.

Although I ran the taco feed last year (and the year before) I (probably) won't run it this year.  But that thread will clue you into what a party it turns out to be.

Hope you can make it out there this year!

Thanks Captn and sumpNZ.  How did you know I liked to drink beer and read long NWKA threads?  (thinking I just asked a dumb question).

ORC is on the calendar.

ORC is on the calendar.
Because that's what most of us do during the winter when the weather sucks.
The upside is the resulting threads can be entertaining as hell as one buzzed member attempts to convince another buzzed member that he has no clue what he is talking about.
The outcome can be Internet gold and a PM in my inbox telling me to be nice.

Welcome to the cure.

Ha Ha... that explains precisely 43% of the long thread I read last night!  For goodness sakes, can we get a running headcount for ORC this year!!!!!!  ARGH!  There needs to be a "hall of fame" for epic nonsense threads that are thoroughly entertaining.  Each year at one of the larger events we can have an induction ceremony where each member who partook in said thread can come forward and receive equal parts praise and shame.
