Without a doubt its the spring lingcod openers...mid march in MA2&3 and mid April in MA4...mostly because its been so damned long since I've experienced a good Ling "crushing" my bait, pulling hard all the way to the boat then thrashing and rolling and tearing the living sh#t out of my boat as I heave it aboard. The weather is always "sketchy" at best but the fishing is off the hook as these fish haven't seen a bait since last October... the beach landings are always "white knuckle" in big surf, wind and rain...the boat is heavy with a big limit of quality fish...I fillet my catch on an isolated beach as Eagles surround me waiting for a carcass...I return to my campsite in the trees under a big "blue tarp", start a roaring fire, grill up some fresh fillets and open a bottle of 14 yr old Macallen single malt...chill out for the evening with that awesome feeling of a great day of fishing. I stare into the fire and can still feel the rolling and pitching of the days swell...damn guys, i can't freakin' wait!!!

   Damn Gordon..........

That sounds like a damn near perfect day.....

Let's make that happen March 14th.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Yep, nothing beats watching those bald eagles feast on the corpses of your catch!   Ocean salmon from June through September; however,  is extremely addicting!

Shit,  I still have 30 vacuum packs in my freezer.

Now that I have fall salmon dialed in, that's my favorite.  Since you said season I'm going to throw in both Buoy 10, and the ocean.  I did well in both last year and intend to hit it hard again this year.  Man, it is such a blast to hook into a 20+ lb chinook and hear that reel scream!  I'm like Nungasdog, I can't freakin wait!!!  That smile and fish in my avatar tells it all.

Summer trout with a fly rod on the SW streams.  Hey!  We can't all be happiest in BIG water, and I'm told it's quite entertaining watching me try to both cast and stay in the kayak.

Winter steelhead, too, but the rivers aren't kind to kayaks when the steelhead come in, so that's a bank season for us.

I'd like to add Fall Chinook, but I still haven't caught one...

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Summer springs on JDF Strait. The fish are up high in the water column, close to shore and the weather is sweet.

Fall and winter river running season for salmon and steelhead. Tough conditions and some of the most rewarding fish fights I've ever experienced. White water steelheading in sub freezing conditions from a kayak - Really, who does that?

The only reason I got a kayak in the first place was so I could fish for fall estuary salmon. But, it's also been fun finding other ways to use the kayak the rest of the time the past few years since I started. I do relish getting towed around by a nice Chinook.
