Hey all,

Just wanting to share the recent install of the rectangular hatch install on my older model outback.  Not sure of the exact year but definitely an older model.  In purchasing the hatch it says that it fits 2013 and newer, I think.  I bought it any ways hoping that I can make it work and with some heat from a heat gun and a little "custom" work I was able to make it work.  If Anyone has an older model and is thinking of this mod you will have get the location just right before cutting....there is no wiggle room!

The first pic shows the outline of the cut.  Note the drainage channels that I had to fill with left over plastic from the cut out section.  I was able to fill the channels by heating the plastic with a heat gun and welding pieces in until flat.

Part of the "custom" work is using 1" #10 ss screw instead of the 3/4 inch that is recommended.

The last pic shows the completed project. A shock bungee cord is ran from the sail post to the seat scupper post to secure the gear on the inside.

I also recorded the install with the gopro but may need some time to edit it together.

Nice install! You can check the last two digits of the serial to figure out the year of your boat.
