No problems with the fire. Intel says kings in Homer so I'm going to try there first.

I wish I had been able to get the band width and saw this notice. I just got back from WG after being there 2 AM on Tuesday until Thursday at 630 PM.

The weather was great but I caught a couple smallish one not over 20lbs. The river dories that anchored off were killing them but they were less than 40lbs with the exception of a 70lber.

I was so tired I missed the morning tide but caught the evening and had a pleasant 1 fish float.

After midnight, 2 yahoos came up to my camp yelling that I need to help them. They had 2, count them, pickups caught in the surf line on a rising tide, 1 boat floating and a trailer under water. They were cussing and yelling at each other and started to include me. I not so kindly used a few profanities about how they had woke me up in the middle of the night and if they want any help out of me they better kiss and make  up or I was going back to bed. They shook hands and I pulled the trucks out, pulled the trailer and boat separately above the tide line. I missed that morning’s tide as I over slept again.

I am Oldish and I really need a good night’s sleep or I don’t function well. I am not really that much of a pansy but Monday I had got back from a week in Baja,  a long flight and another story.

Anyway there did not appear to be any big bait balls or salmon around, there were a couple of Orcas cruising on Wednesday and I thought I saw a Sea Lion.

When I came down there was a bunch of smoke and the Troopers had some of the side roads blocked off but no delays, on the way back the only delays were from road crews.

I need to find a safe way to anchor the kayak, I am thinking a large bouy anchored then attaching with a quick break away system?

Have a great time.

Glad you gotta couple. And while the standard phrase is "karma's a bitch" she also blesses those that go above and beyond. But what the heck am I saying. You got a hundy last year!!!!

I'm in Homer. Started nasty. Laying down now. I'm looking for kings.

As far as anchoring. I think you can emulate with pedal drives. I bought an anchor and buoy to try that method but save the one time with my son, I'm doing ok so too lazy to try.  Dudemandude here anchors at WG and does great. I just don't have the balls yet.

Conditions update. ..Blowing about 5-10 Southeast, 3 foot rollers with 1 foot chop, and mild white caps.  Calming down though

MAK and Akfishripper made some awesome fish and chips plus onion rings!!! Thanks!!!!

Took Nick from southern CA out today. Less than 8 hours after landing in ANC, he is hooked up!!!   Between us, I bet we landed 15 halibut. But none bigger than 20lbs. Argh. At one point we were 4.5 miles off shore and 11 miles from the launch. Way too far! Got carried away trying to get him on fish. I'm a terrible guide.

I broke off the biggest fish of the day. Idiot. I had a backlash that pinched the line.   Broke 50lvs braid 10ft from the pole tip. Argh!!! Unforgivable !!

I also hooked a red on my trailing red bare hook. Lost it at the yak. Hmmm.

Went out this afternoon,  weather was perfect (a little hot actually). Nina was able to get out as well thanks to the dry suit Rudy let her borrow.

I tried bait for 2 hours with one bite, switched over to a 10 oz P - line jig and caught 2 chickens within 10 minutes.  Looks like I my try more powered drifting with some larger jigs next week.

We'll be out there again on Thursday. ..see u guys on the water

So after getting out fished in the morning session by my buddy who had never caught a halibut from a kayak 3 to 1, had to go out and try it again.  Managed a pair of thirty pounders.

nice, rudy... though watching you use that harpoon, all I could think of is "ow! my leg!"

Lol. I didn't get a shot of me trying to bleed the fish and stabbing myself in the leg for round 2. Lol.

That was double "ouch that was my leg!"  Pic is just now butt incident was two weeks ago!! I stuck myself pretty good.  At the time I was more worried about my drysuit.

Fergy, much better though it does take a little more pressure. But I can only tell because I've pushed it through with my hands when I forgot the harpoon shaft one time. I like the extra lip that grabs it on the other side. Spend the extra 10 bucks. Don't be a cheapo like me and lose a potential fish of a lifetime like I did.
