I just returned from a Dream trip...   >:D

That Catalina/Cahnnel Island Trip sounds awesome...  I could use the excuse to visit family in California to cover some of the costs...  Hmmm....

I would also like to go to Panama and fish East, West and Canal Zone waters..  Would love to catch a Tarpon in all three...  And Snook, Peacock Bass, and Roosterfish, etc...

Hmmmm...

Did the Canal Zone a few years back. Once our guide found fish, we could hardly get the bait wet and the bass were all over it. We each caught too many to count, took 2 for dinner at the restaurant and tipped the guide with the rest. He provided white bread cheese sandwiches for lunch with incredibly fresh spears of pineapple (that made up for the sandwiches).

I used to fish Catalina on the cattle boats when I was a kid. Also spent many days diving on both sides of the island. I actually looked into the Two Harbors area for a vacation. They rent kayaks, and have camping and a nice B&B. I have always had a fascination with that island. My parents lived in Avalon during WWII. Always wanted to spend some time there, and kayak fishing would make it a most wonderful adventure!

Catching a peacock bass has also been one of my dreams. I actually owned one for 12 years! He was the coolest fish I ever had. I raised him from a minnow to 14 inches. He would try and get the ball when I threw it for the dogs. Super smart fish! Paddling through the jungle and catching Peacocks would have to be the ultimate!

Bonefishing in French Polynesia:

Christmas Islands, Seychelles, or any of a number of other Indian Ocean/South Pacific locales would do.

Peacock bass in the Amazon.

Permit, Tarpon in Belize.

You'd be surprised how few quality fish there are to be had in the Indian Ocean (around Sumatra and its islands at least)  We hooked a couple of sailfish and a couple more Wahoo but the giant commercial boats and all the reef rapers have really done a number there.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I'll settle for anywhere with warm water!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day...
Teach a man to fish and he will sit at his miserable job all day wishing he was fishing...

Hmmmm, My Dream Trip?

It starts out flying in to Sandspit, QCI and then boarding a boat for a ride around the island for some nutz and guts sailing, then getting dropped off for a week to kayak fish for barn door Halibut, king Salmon, monster ling and various and sundry rockfish in the summer so there is 15+ hours of daylight. Oh, and a burgeoning gourmet guide who's practicing for his high-end luxury camp services and it's expenses paid!!!!!!!!!!

Somebody pinch me, 'cause I gotta be dreaming
