My biggest goal this year is to compete in as many Kayak Bass tournaments as possible. I grew up fishing tournaments with my dad, and still fish the bigger ones each year, but have never fished one from a kayak. I'll be attending at least 3 in person, and a few more online if all goes well. I'd love to hear from anyone that's headed to the Moses Lake tournament on May 2nd!

My goal for 2020 is to target and catch at least 3 new to me (from a kayak) species.  The available list includes:

- Kokanee
- Lake Trout
- Pike
- Triploids
- Tiger Rockfish
- Brook Trout
and
- Burbot

Lovin' the energy, Mark! I can't believe your name is on the AOTY board again - can't wait to see what you do. And if you want company on the tiger rockfish hunt please do let me know.

Loving the goals!! My 2019 was primarily marked by less fishing than I would have liked, and when I did fish I was more into it for the relaxation and fun more so than the thought of AOTY (not that it would matter a whole lot really.)

This year I'd like to start small by buying a 2020 WA State license come April, I've bought day passes previously but being a cheapskate I've always balked at buying a whole year and it's limited me to some extent because I've wanted to explore fisheries in the state more. Along with that I want to fish Merwin, and also Omak lake as part of a back country discovery route trip I intend to take sometime this summer (See: https://ridebdr.com/wabdr/) Ideally halibut would be on the menu as well, but I am not sure if it's in the cards.

Unrelated to kayak fishing I'd like to go on a Tuna charter later this year, any recommendations??

I'm happy to report I've already got a good start on my 2020 goals. I got the AOTY2019 wrap-up post done, went crabbing a little (no keepers), and went fishing with an NWKA buddy. My SUPs arrive this week, so hopefully I can make short work of those goals this spring.

I bought a packraft for the first time, and my goal this year is to hike it in to some of my favorite backpacking trails to enjoy some fresh trout meals. At some point, got sick of seeing fish jumping just out of casting distance. I don't have many people in my life that enjoys this, so if this sounds like a good time to you, I'd love to coordinate a trip! Just let me know. Hate fishing alone.

My goals are simple: take the kayak out for its maiden voyage and try to get out to fish as often as I am able to without irritating the wife too much.
So, I'll be looking to see when people are going out so I can hopefully join some of you and learn as I go.

2020 will be interesting for me trying to balance having a new child and still getting out to enjoy my hobby.  It will be a year of maximizing opportunity, but I would like to:

- Get out on the ocean at least once
- Crab and fish Tillamook bay (got two new crab pots I need to get wet!)
- Take more new people out on the Tandem Island and introduce them to kayak fishing

Thanks! Looking forward to when she is old enough to cast a line.  She will be a year old this spring, so we are hoping to get a child life jacket for her and take her out for a calm day on the TI and get her used to being on the water.  Should be fun!

1 down and at least 2 more to go....

Thanks to Jeremy Jahn, owner of KokaneeKid Fishing for setting me up with a nice selection of dodgers and spinners and the strategy for how to use them.

Avoid more eye surgeries after the mandatory one this spring to remove the oil and insert a gas bubble.

Get a fishing license.

Teach Ru how to cast with a Dock Demon / Barbie Rod

Slammed that goal into DONE  ;D   That's excellent.  KokaneeKid makes some exceptional tackle.
