I fish the ocean and most everywhere else for that matter, by myself, my friends (mostly) breeders are always busy with their kids, priorities? ::). I use common sense and plan for safety but after that, if its my time its my time.   It is smart to have a buddy,  but, life can slip by waiting for someone to fish with.

If you were to catch a sturgeon on presidents day (monday) would it count for AOTY? as they are closed to retention except thur-sat.

AOTY rule #6

6. No out off season, oversize or undersize (fish larger than the legal limit or smaller then the legal limit per species) may be entered. All local water rules must be followed.  Ask yourself, could you have legally retained the fish?  If the answer is yes, then that fish may count towards your points.

I thought that was it.. just wondered if there was a loop hole I was unaware of..

If we get some rain steelhead would be a good option.  No rain the last week or so has really put the lid on the game. The clack is at early summer time low levels. Most other rivers are really low too, including the willy... Low also equals COLD which isn't good for the catchin...

Brian,

I have yet to kayak fish with a buddy in freshwater. My wife is glad that I am out of the house! As far as saltwater, I wouldn't feel comfortable going out by myself. When it comes down to it though, if I didn't fish by myself, I wouldn't get much fishing in! Actually, most of the fish I have caught at Sunset bay were by myself, it's just that I went out with buddies to start with!

Go catch a trout by yourself, it will do your self esteem good!

The only person that has ever been kicked off my wife's list of approved fishing friends is Joel "Mooch" from NCKA. He showed up to an NCKA group event wearing a well endowed cooking apron and flashed her with it.  She wasn't very amused and questioned my choice to have "internet friends".

That made me choke on my coffee. I've seen some photos of Mooch in his apron... :-X

Back at the beginning of our relationship, my wife was pretty anxious about my boating activities. Now, we've done enough, together, that's she's relaxed and trusts that I'm paying attention to what's going on.

Wish I had a paddle and rack for the car.

I guess I did things backwards, but I'm picking up my Kayak Saturday evening and would jump in with both feet if I had all the gear.

Bad Lattitude...

If you have the day off and want to go fishing I can probably help with the transportation and gear.  What gear do you need?  I have extra PDFs, paddles, fishing rods, etc..  I even have extra kayaks including a Trident 13 you can borrow.

No I prefer to keep them uncompressed.
