Willamette springer, Friday May 20

Well Friday were the normal learning curve for me..... rod holders were not working right, fish finder was not working right, etc....  So I decided to stay in willy/channel, I marked a ton of fish, but nothing was biting.   There were about 10-15 boats, water temp 54, and tons of debris with a short visibility.

Couldn’t get out Friday but managed to squeeze in a few hours Sunday morning and try out the new AP 120 just below OC Falls. Launched out of Clackamette Park at 5:30, trolled for bit then “anchored.” By 7 there must’ve been 50 boats crammed in a relatively small area, but still pretty easy to move around in a kayak . Managed to get a nice steelhead and left by 8:30. Overall I was impressed with the APs ability to maneuver and “anchor” in a decent current.

Went to Willamette below OC falls yesterday 5/24 and overall it was a slow morning. Shortly after 9 things have picked up a little and I saw few smaller fish landed. I was trolling a Spinfish filled with tuna while most people in boats were anchored and using coon shrimp/eggs. Towards 10 I hooked into a nice Chinook and was able to land it despite it wanting to pull me into anchor lines. Springer #2 out of kayak!
