OR vs WA Regs on the Columbia??

WA - Rocky Pt to I-5 Bridge, May 23 - Jun 3, Release all salmon other than hatchery jacks. Jun 4 - Jun 15, release all salmon other than hatchery chinook. Also, salmon/steelhead ia closed from I-5 to Beacon Rock. https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efishrules/erule.jsp?id=2838

So what is the deal May 24 - Jun 3?? Can we keep adult hatchery chinook or not?

I believe the states have a cooperative agreement and it depends on where you land/dock - if in Washington, Washington regulations and if in Oregon, Oregon regulations, and in mid-river, I believe it depends on what state issued your license.

(1) Columbia River: From a projected line from Rocky Point on the Washington bank through Red Buoy 44 to the red navigation marker 2 at Tongue Point on the Oregon bank to the Interstate 5 Bridge:

Immediately through May 22: Salmon and steelhead: Daily limit 6, up to 2 adults may be retained of which no more than 1 may be an adult Chinook. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook. Release wild steelhead. Salmon min. size 12 inches. Shad retention is permitted, no min. size or daily limit.

May 23: Salmon and steelhead: Daily limit 6, up to 2 hatchery steelhead may be retained. Release all salmon other than hatchery jack Chinook. Release wild steelhead. Salmon min. size 12 inches. Shad retention is permitted, no min. size or daily limit.

May 24 through June 15: Salmon and steelhead: Daily limit 6, up to 2 adults may be retained of which no more than 1 may be an adult Chinook. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook. Release wild steelhead. Salmon min. size 12 inches. Shad retention is permitted, no min. size or daily limit.

(2) Columbia River: From the Interstate 5 Bridge to a deadline marker on the Washington bank at Beacon Rock:

Release wild steelhead. Salmon min. size 12 inches. Shad retention is permitted, no min. size or daily limit.

But Beer-Run, it closed for you! You cought enough chinook already

My understanding of the WA/OR shared shore cooperative along the Columbia works like this:

Either state license is valid on the Columbia, and can launch from either shore.  Limits are the same.

If you launch from a tributary of either state and travel into the Columbia, all license requirements and limit rules apply for that particular state.

That makes sense.
