Fogarty - July 9th

Slow at PC today too. Started with a footpeg on my Mirage drive snapping. D’oh! I improvised and managed to troll for a few hours. 1 coho lost near the boat on a twisted sister superbait, 1 solid hit on straight herring, and that’s it. 1 crab in the pot which was delicious.

Oh and I mentioned last month how PC is magical, but only during the week. Today was nut nut.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was kinda good salmon fishing off Fogarty. Despite the warm 60+ degree water, I came home with a coho and a small Chinook. Marked bait and several salmon over the course of the morning. Today was not so good. I only landed a wild coho and had a handful of missed bites. Bumped around from 80 ft out to 170 a few times, but couldn't find any bait. Seemed like everyone hooked a fish or three, but there wasn't much consistency to it.

Looking forward to that north wind blowing hard for a re-set of conditions for next week. Everything's scattered right now.

Did you get a chance to try them spinners or did you use rotary killers or Apex trolling behind a flasher?

Went 3 for 5 today with two nice hatchery coho, one wild released and a huge beast that broke my leader when I tried to horse him too much.
Silver 360 and a white and green hootchie tipped with herring I jigged in Newport.
17 pulls and 8 ounces.

One coho on an orange/gold blue fox that broke off. First hooked salmon, so that's an accomplishment. Sad it didn't reach the kayak

thanks for the info I'm sorry to hear about the lost beast as we've all been there before. Seems like every time I try to horse them I get the same results and I know I'll make the same mistake again and again.
