Got to remember to make that phone call..... I was thinking about the second week in May, though I'm flexible.  I like the tides a bit better, though I haven't checked current flows through there yet.

Ooh, glad you mentioned that!  I almost forgot that spring soccer league lands right there!  K.  So the first weekend in May.  I can do that.  How many other takers? Oh, and somebody kick me.  I keep forgetting to call the rangers on Sucia to get details on the group site.  :(

YM, I can make that weekend if we are definite that is the time we want to go.
HBH, what do you say ?
Pole?, others?
I think I'll let the boss know tomorrow.  Now this will be something to look forward to!   :o ;D

I can commit to the first weekend in May.  8)

If it's super cold I may need to reserve space on the mothership.  If it's nice-ish, then I'm all over the camping.  Depending on the response we get here, we may need to move this topic to Events and get some real commitment from people.  I'd guess that a group 4 or larger would justify the group camping site. I'm making that call to the rangers office right now and leaving a message! Details posted as soon as I have them.

i have the weekend of may 2, 2009 on my calendar for a trip to sucia for some kayak fishing!
i even have wife approval! (who are all these people?-her comment)...
lets hope for wind under 15knts that weekend...
sucia is in a bit of a wind shadow but the crossing through the south end of the straight of georgia can be gnarly in a NW blow

I'm jazzed for your plans to hit Sucia in May. I go every May.  Here's a little proof of the May lingcod bite at Sucia from last year.  I took a friend from Colorado - he was in the dingy and I was in the yak.  There were three of us and we all caught several keepers each and some nice rockfish too.  By they way, May is shrimp season so if you are into all the work, you can soak a pot while you fish all day.

I'll try and plan to be there the same weekend as the HBH mothership.  I have not fished the entire island but I've spoken to enough Sucia long-timers to know where the fish are.  With that in mind - I recommend the group site closest to Shallow Bay.  That's where I'll be - anchored up in Shallow Bay close to the fish.

HBH and Yak Monkey - I'll PM you closer to the trip to see how its taking shape and to coordinate a hook up.

I might be game for this one.  This is the only weekend in May that I don't have a birthday party or family event (my wife, daughter, and I all have may birthdays).  I really hope this works out.  I'm stoked to finally get a little salt on my yak.

Depending on the participation level I may be able to convince my inlaws to provide a second mothership opportunity. (36' Avanti)

Reservations made, paperwork on it's way to me.  I'll send in the deposit.  At this point, we have the reservation made.  I"ve started a different post (that should probably be moved to Events? Maybe?) so we can get official commitments so we don't overload HGH, if it works out that he can still mothership.

Nice work Yak Monkey, looks like this is headed for "Event" status.
