Here's the basic web-based tools that I regularly use for pre-trip scouting.

Map views, topo, satellite and hybrid views.

Washington State Aerial Photos- http://apps.ecy.wa.gov/shorephotos/
Great for checking out potential launch sites.

Dairiki Tide and Current Predictions- http://www.dairiki.org/tides/
