Swofford isn't very big, just look for us.  We'll be there.  (I don't have a radio!)

Yarrow Yakker and I met up around 0835.

I got one ling, about 10-12 inches, who was hooked under the mouth, near the stomach.  Probably hooked there because the jig was so big.  He came off the hook when I let it go slack at the surface, which is good as I didn't want to do him any additional harm.

Also snagged a little 9" flouner, and hooked a 14" flounder.  I'll add that to AOTY later.  Gotta pack for Swofford.

Edit:  Forgot to mention that it was REALLY windy.  We tried starting at 120 ft and having the wind drift us in.  My first drop had a snag within 30 seconds and I lost my gear.  Re-tied, and tried again, but couldn't keep 4oz on the bottom, and didn't want to use 6oz.  We paddled in to 70 feet and drifted from there.

There were white caps pretty much the whole time.

How did you do at Swofford? My place on Mayfield is only a few miles from there. I plan on doing some night Cat fishing @ Swofford

Girlfriend caught a baby catfish  (oh look isn't he so cuuuutttteeee???) on Friday night.  Saturday I got a 12 inch trout, she caught a "black sunfish"

Swiftdraw was there on Saturday for a bit and I think he had 2 trout.

I wasn't too happy with Swafford.  I spent 90% of my time pulling algae/weeds off my gear.  I'm not exaggerating either.

Good place to plunk from the shore.

Is Swofford open for night fishing?  I'd meet you for some catfishing some weekend evening.  We're talking about about channel cats, not brown bullhead right?

Well I finally got that first fish in the yak!!
I went to Swofford Pond and met up with Lee. I put in at 730 am and started trolling with a wedding ring while exploring the area. I metered some fish at the West end of the pond but no takers on the troll so I decided to toss a back rooster tail and got a bump…. “I may get a fish after all” then on the second cast a follower…..”Gee I just might!!” after a few more casts FISH ON the curse has been broken my first fish a rainbow trout. I later hooked another on a worm suspended under a bobber. I needed a measuring board… I could have a few points on the AOTY board oh well it’s my first fish not the greatest story but none the less my first fish!!
It’s a start.

They are indeed channel cat.  Swofford is open 24/7, 365.  There is no camping and signs posted read "stay limited to 8 hours"

SD, Cabela's has HAWG troughs and there was an online company that sells them as well

They have both types of catfish. I noticed that Dick's sporting goods in Puyallup has a hole section dedicated to Cat fishing. They carry numerous types of Stink Bait. I have always used chicken livers or night crawlers, but may try something differant.

I stay out in Mossyrock at least two weekends a month, so im sure we can meet up somtime.
