I haven't fished Salt since I was oh... 16 and in South Carolina, so this is a whole new ballgame for me out here.

I want to target some Lings and Flounders in Area 13, preferably in the Nisqually Delta area or around Ketron/McNiel/Anderson islands area.

I've done a lot of paddling out there, but no fishing.  Any suggestions for spots I should head to?

Also, if anyone is up for taking a weekday out there, please let me know and I'll set it up to go.

RIGHT UNDer the Narrows Bridge, you'll see all the PB's  and even guys fishing from shore.  They're in close.

What's a good put in for that area?  Seems like the current might be really bad there.  I know WR wanted to hit that area but he's not around right now.

I have had my PB under the Narrows bridge and it was challenging to keep it upright. I cant imagine trying it in a Kayak.

I would like to plan a Area 13 trip to Point Solo in late July when the Kings are in.

when i mentioned this to Lee and the other south sounders back in jan/feb, my idea was to put in north of the bridges, paddle out into the eastern side of the narrows and drift south with a large [ like 40 inches or better] drift sock slowing me/us down on the incoming tides.

what got me thinking about doing it this way was actually seeing this; http://www.salmonuniversity.com/pss_tacoma_narrows.html    and the lights went on..

Look for days with mellow currents, like the next few days. Around 1 1/ 2 knots during the morning flood. It lasts for several hours. I think there may be an area to launch down by Days Island and Titlow Beach.

YY and I are going out tomorrow.  The current is supposed to stay below 2 knots pretty much all day.

Haven't finalized yet, but shooting to be at the park around 0830 and on the water by 9.

Anyone got advice on a particular bait and jig size?  Currently I'm planning on some Saltwater Gulp with 1-2oz Jigs

I would go for some bigger stuff for the lings, especially considering the current. I'd take at least some 6oz and maybe 8-10. Lings will attack really big stuff.

Scampi and curly tail jigs are what I use the most- but most anything will work. I've done well on white, but rootbeer and black and chartreuse can be productive, too. I used some Gulp swimbaits for the first time last year, and everything seemed to like them.
