Thanks for all the virtual "high fives" guys.  The grin is still in full force.  My wife loved the fact it made picture of the month.  That's just great.

To answer the rig question, I was using a whole herring about four feet from a large green flasher with about 4 ounces of weight on an 18" dropper.  I was in 30 ft of water going perpendicular to the flow, basically zig zagging my way slowly upstream.  I thought I got it on video, but not this time.  I hope everyone is soon to be as lucky as I was today.  Thanks everyone!

I like the way your kid is looking into the mouth of the monster, oblivious to the camera. He's thinking the old man is a real live fish slayer.

I agree completely!!

It sounds like you were doing things just right going side to side in the slower water on the east side of the Island. This high slower water has a lot of these Springers moving through the slower frog water area's just milling around. It sounds like your whole hearing went spinning by the nose of the right fish.
Way to "POP" your Springer cherry! :)

Nice fish!  The chinook season is underway. Can't wait to get out and give it a go here in Alaska!
