Decided to take the day off and try for the third time to get one.  Launched at the Hawthorne boat dock in the Willamette near the east side of the bridge around 7:00 AM.  (I'll need to do something else for parking next time as I earned a $39 ticket today.  Didn't realize it was a private lot.)  Paddled up to the east side of Ross Island where I hooked into this fish.  It's around 29" and 11 lbs.  I first thought I was stuck on the bottom, but much to my surprise, it gave the line several good shakes.  It came to the surface and really thrashed around and I was just amazed I actually hooked one!  Took me awhile to get my net ready since I never expected to actually catch one of these.  It's not just a big fabricated lie after all!  I did happen to see a lot more fish on my finder this time around.  I think the fish are starting move around more and this week should bring up the temp some more.  I'll post my go pro vid soon.  Super happy day for me! ;D

Think I saw you too this morning from a rooftop I was working on.  Way to get one.  Good to read about all the success people are having.

I like the way your kid is looking into the mouth of the monster, oblivious to the camera. He's thinking the old man is a real live fish slayer.

This gets my vote for new POTM, take me and my canary rockfish off the home page. The kid is much more photogenic than me, and that is a proud moment.

Nice to see a different pic .Nice fish too...
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Congratulation, Waterman!!  Nice looking chrome. Looks like you are holding two keepers there. I have yet to get my first springer this year. Thinking about heading out sometimes this week after work. Thanks for the report.

Antoine.
