well, kykfshr, Spot and Rawkfish are going next weekend.  Salmon will recognize their mojo and respond accordingly. My plan is to stay close to them! :)

The only thing you'll catch near me is a nice whiff of stanky morning farts.  ;D

  Report in today's Seattle PI

Well the king salmon opener in Grays Harbor was a bust yesterday (Sunday, Sept. 16) and the likely culprit in the slow fishing was Mother Nature.

"We saw very, very few caught, mostly dark chinook," said Tony Floor, director of fishing affairs for the Northwest Marine Trade Association, who says a weather change is needed in order to get those fish moving into the harbor and up the rivers. "We kept one 6-pound coho."

"The fish, both chinook and coho are not moving into the harbor," Floor said. "Meanwhile, lots of fish offshore, according to the charter fleet who did very well (on Sunday)."

Yeah that's kind of a bummer, but a week can make alot of difference.  Even if the weather doesn't change.

Hopefully barometric pressure drops and gets them off the lockjaw

Let's keep hoping!   Meantime, I am taking the kayak to the yellow  can in the middle of the passage between Brown's Point and Piner Point on Vashon, buddy of mine scored a 10# silver there this AM ... Will not be in Hoquiam tomorrow as planned, given the lousy report from the normally upbeat Tony Floor.

I love the positive outlook.  However, what-if the weather doesn't change (as predicted). Are we locked into having a derby for a few dark King Salmon hiding out in the estuary waiting for rain? Can we move the date, or change to a Coho derby this weekend? Just saying, I'm not hearing any good reports about area 2.2 this week.

I vote to keep it this weekend.  It is a fishing tournament, but it's not just about fishing.  Lookin forward to seeing everybody.

   I agree with Rory.

Let's do this and make it happen.

I'm fishing regardless.  Almost too late to get a deposit back, so hoping that we don't postpone.

Species change I would support, even to bottomfish or trout in a nearby lake....no matter to me, I just want to meet up with some peeps, hit the water, and fish.

I say keep it this weekend.. (not like my vote really matters!!)  To me the big thing is the fundraiser point for our HOW group and I get to see some of ya'll again.. I dont know about everyone but I do know that some of us got a pass from the wives to get out, so Im all over that opportunity!!  Worse case scenario we add a category for biggest by-catch or smallest fish caught.. Just my .02..
