I was told the opening was 9/15 tomorrow, but the regs online state 9/16.  My work engagement got cancelled this weekend, so I am going to fish somewhere on both days.

Thought pre-fishing 2.2 area would work, but cannot get straight answer unless I believe the regs which seem to be wrong each time I question them.

Anyway, can somebody shed light on area 2.2 opening?
Also saw that retention was: Min. size 12". Daily limit 3 of which only 1 may be a CHINOOK and 2 may be wild COHO. Release CHUM.

Thanks in advance.

Crabbing "Pot Gear" closure is Saturday, but crabhawks and snares are still legal :)  Was thinking of crabbing as well.

Eric

I might be heading to Johns on Sunday to PreFish, I'm fighting off a cold right now. But, I'm hoping to make it out. I might paddle out to the bay and drop some CrabHawks that I might get from Steve to see if there are any Dungees too.

Assume no fin restriction on kings???   I plan to be there Tuesday PM, setting up at Twin Harbors.  Current issue of The Reel News has 2 articles on Grays Harbor.

Hope to see some others out tomorrow.  I am going to go out first light and try to hit the low-high morning change.  Hoping the ramp is not going to be a total zoo, but will be there extra early.

Why the ramp----all you need is a beach.   There is no fin restriction on kings or coho.  Release chum.  I'll be going up Tuesday, staying at Twin Harbors State Park---who else will be at the park???  Good Luck OLYSPEC!!!!

After I got off graveyard shift this morning at 8:00 am I went by the 28th St. boat launch.
There were over 100 trailers already parked and about 25 boats waiting to put in...Whewwww....
The Cosmopolis launch had about 50 rigs parked and people were lined up out to Hwy 101 waiting to put in.
I have never seen that much activity on the Chehalis River.

Didn't wait around to hear any reports of catches.I was too tired after work.

How did the guys that went out of John's River fare ?Looking forward to some reports.

I'm on graveyard til Monday nite. Then I'll be off Tuesday and Wednesday and bac to work Thursday at 4:00 pm.
      I will be fishing..................

Got to the ramp about 5:45am.  There was already a flotilla holding right off the ramp.  I jumped in, unloaded next to the ramp, and managed to get the Jeep and trailer into the last spot at the top of the hill.  Got on the water and just followed the pb'ers.

Short story - it was lockjaw all around the area I fished.  Only saw 2 jacks, 3 dogfish pulled by other boats all day.  I had one pulldown that I messed up with, 2 voracious sculpin, and an undersize crab.

I followed the pb'ers the wrong way for a kayak to start the day!  I ended up working against the current most of the day which meant my legs were working hard.  Yeah, when I got on land finally, I felt like my legs just did a leg of the tour de France.   I should have gone towards the ocean and ridden the tide back in...

Swivels - I got owned by my swivels....I gotta spend the extra and get the nice swivels.  The seaweed chewed mine up and I lost two leaders to winding up thanks to bad swivels.

Brined Herring smell does not like to come out from fingernails....must bring gloves when dealing with herring as a bait.

Even though the forcast says 7 more days of sun, I really hope some rain will sneak in soon.  Gotta get those rivers flowin and the fish hungry to start moving up.

Oly-did you see any salmon rolling?  Also, just to verify, you launched where the tournament launch is next weekend, correct?

Didn't see any rolling at all, not in St Johns on the way in our out, and not in the shipping channel.  Marked a ton on the fishfinder though.

Yes, it was the tournament launch point.

Listened to the other boat's radio as I did not bring mine out.  I guess there was a couple of times a bunch of boats moved closer to Westport en masse, but did not hear anybody limiting.
