I'll tell ya what to avoid:  Spiderwire.
It's not the best line but i wouldn't say avoid it  :)

Ok, don't avoid it, just make sure you don't use it for fishing.

Acceptable uses include, and are likely limited to:  flossing, sewing, and building snares for rabbits and juvenile giganto pithicis.
Well I havnt had any issues with it
here fishy fishy fishy!!!

I think it depends on what you are doing.
Do you want it for a float set up?
Spinning?
Casting?
For a pin or float setup suffix 832 is expensive but fucking bad ass!
Spinning, I find braid gets in the guides way more than mono.
Casting- what kind of fishing?
Sorry to answer with more questions...
Ben

Power Pro.  I have all my bottom fishing and salmon reels spooled with power pro.  I haven't tried the new "slick" power pro yet.  I will try it when I respool a reel.

I have used tuff line, powerpro, and spiderwire. I can't  tell much difference between TL or PP.  I have had no issues with either.  Spiderwire is flat and stiff.  It looks and feels like dental floss.  When I hook into a larger fish, it digs into itself.  I have not had that happen with the others.

I have powerpro on most of my rods, but have been switching over to  Sufix 832 for my heavier lines.  There is no reason for the switch other than it was on sale once and I liked it and then it was on sale again.

I found that same oddity of cross section with Stren Microfuse when i loaded it up on my first conventional rig back in 08
Didnt seem to affect the lay much, though i did take someones advice and use a lot of tension and a slow wind when i put it on the reel. Have not fished that combo much since so really have not run into those issues.

BUT, i picked up a shimano cardiff 401a two years ago and the store loaded it for me with 30 something power pro. Absolutely worst performing combination I've ever had. Not only did the line continuosly break when casting, the spool seized repeatedly at the slightest sign of pressure. Yanked it off the rod in frustration sent it to the maker with an angry letter and switched back to predominately mono and different reel brand and have not had a problem since.

Thats my experience with the stuff. Yours may be different.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.
