We had a little pub crawl a few weeks back, Allen gave me a Hummingbird 788 ci Combo as part of the AOTY prizes from our very generous sponsors. I opened the box and its a beast of a unit, both in size and capabilities. The true power of it comes in when you add in other transducers (455 kHz quad beam, WideSide). Hey, add both and install a switch - only about the size of a 2004 cell phone. A couple of weeks go by and I'm trying to figure out how I am going to fit all this stuff in my Tesla that has a full deck as it is. Then I go out with FJ, watch his rig move out, have a long chat with him. A few days later it all falls in place - We're gonna need a bigger boat.

Of course the wife says well if you are getting that, then I get (fill in the blank). I nip that argument right in the butt with those two magic words all married men learn when these arguments come up in a marriage - Yes Dear! No telling how much that will cost me.

Not putting the old-girl out to pasture just yet. We've bagged a lot of fine fish together over the years and there's still some trips I want to make with her. However, she'll probably get to spend more time in storage from here on out.

Looks like a lot more benefit than cost to me...  ;D

Reading the title, I was expecting to see a new tattoo.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

You are going to love the Addy. I think it might be the single best ocean fishing kayak. I wish it had some rocker and flare at the bow but a little water in the lap never hurt any one. Not quite a glass touring boat but one of the few you can paddle at 4 mph and peddle at 5-6 mph for hours.

Nice red adventure! Theres a few of them around  ;D

They are such sweet kayaks in the open water, amazingly fast for a SOT. I agree with fungunnin, the adventure needs more rocker and flare in the bow. It doesn't handle great in the surf either due to the lack of rocker/flare. That being said slap on a pair of thigh straps and you can at least do the "Bongo Slide" to survive the surf zone.

To be honest, I've never been in one. Only had enuf time to buy this week, not enuf time for a test drive.

I'll find the time next week to give it a go, heading out to the OP for the next several days with 3 other yaks and a full toy box. ;D

The built in beverage holder sealed the deal. Tired of coming back from an evening of fishing smelling like the floor of a brewery after spilling my favorite beverage in my lap.

And yet another claimed by the dark side..... >:D

As i recall from the first Friday Night with polepole, you told us Tesla is old enough to vote, and your turn in the new boat rotation had been passed a few times, so maybe it does need a well deserved rest.

John, it might be space limited as a fishing yak, but don't count out the traditional SInK. Especially in the hands of a very expreienced paddler.

That giant sea bass doesn't count as a real fish?! :P

He uses trips of light and strings to make them look big... most of those fish were no bigger then 12 inches. ;)  Of course I was being sarcastic... and jealous of his new hobie. :)
