So quick question for the  mirage owners on here. I was  wondering 3 things? 1 how much play should my rudder have, it seems like a full time job to keep the boat on a straight course, and that's while peddling, if I paddle and peddle, and the rudder. It's like trying to keep a class room for of adhd kids quite. Second what do you guys do to lock up your yaks when staying in hotels on the coast. Oh and I don't remember the 3rd a d d maybe.

You shouldn't have steering problems like that.  I never do.  Check Youtube for hobie rudder adjustments or the hobie forums.

I use a cable lock on my kayaks.  This is the one I have:

Just run it through the scupper holes and through a tow loop on your vehicle.

The basics - are you sure your rudder down cable is cleated? If it isn't, you will definitely have problems.

I haven't locked mine up yet but I really should start.

My Yak is insured and I always park where there are security cameras.

I always lock my kayaks up when I'm away from home or have to leave my kayaks and car somewhere. It's usually overkill but it's always less stressful when I know they are locked.

I have locked the kayaks to my roof rack when hotel-ing(?) and I've locked it to trees, picnic benches, and even my car rims when camping and going on a hike or leaving them for any amount of time.

I have the lasso master lock all and it has worked great for locking 2 sit on tops up at the same time. Also there is a good YouTube video of how it works on the website.
