I'm headed to the coast (Depoe Bay)with family for spring break, anyone fish for flounder in Siletz Bay?  I read a report on the fishery for flounder and perch in the Siletz and it shows that system has the healthiest population for them by survey. The river channel just before it reaches the mouth is supposed to be good.  Does anyone have any first hand knowledge? Thanks for any info, and I'm going to crab too.

I'll be out there from Sunday to Wednesday. We're staying in Lincoln City, but I'm going to get out to Yaquina Bay for some crabbing on Monday and possibly the Siletz on Tuesday depending on how Monday goes. I've also got the family so I have to make a couple of sand castles with the girls. I'll be on Channel 68 if I get out to the Siletz on Tuesday.

I am really chomping at the bit to get out there.  When do you think you will be out there? Where can I meet you guys? you can PM the details. I was thinking Saturday but Friday could possibly work depending on what time you are heading out.
It's not the destination, but the Journey that makes life interesting!

The family and I enjoyed springbreak on the coast, and I unfortunately had to leave my yak at home.  Too much stuff in the truck, and I would be in deep doo doo for playing in the ocean w/out fam!  We had a blast clamming in Siletz bay.  My girls really had fun digging limits of purple varnish clams.  I was happy to see my youngest was determined to dig her limit and I had to wait to let her meet her goal.  Hard work digging in wet sand at 8, but she got em!
I had no idea how great they tasted after cooking them up.  I watched some real lucky yak anglers out of Depoe Bay (5?) enjoying the weather, it looked epic.  There were a couple whales that passed by heading north too.  I fished the jetty and caught some cabs using swim baits, but reallllly wanted to get out on the blue.  We spent one morning down in the tide pools at Seal Rock.  The minus tide was super and gave access to some extra sights.  Oh, and my girls are pros at building driftwood beach shacks at Taft wayside!
So, were back at home, in school and at work...almost.  I went up to Ochoco Lake with the yak this morning and caught some trout- got to get that yak fix!
-Any pics of the Depoe Bay fishing?

Nice report, sounds like fun even without a yak

Purple varnish clams eh? Interesting. Looks like the limits for em have doubled in Oregon recently too, a whopping 72 clams.
