I am thinking about giving it a try again tomorrow afternoon (fishing the incoming tide).  Anyone else interested?  I'm thinking of heading back to the Channel, but I'd be open for other locations.

Well, surf looks like crap today so I'm gonna head back to the channel for another shot.  I'll probably head down around 9:00 or so and fish sturgeon on the outgoing, then switch over to Salmon tolling on the incomming.  Hope I see some of you guys there.

Sounds like my plans for checking out the "Big C" were generally boo-hooed by the collective so I'm thinking Willamette or Multnomah Channel on Monday now.

Hey Brian,
There's nothing wrong with fishing the Big C. It's just,,,,,,,Big!
Multnomah and the Willie are just a bit more manageably sized. Crossing either of those is no big thing. Crossing the Columbia takes a good while and can cause some serious sphincter tightening when that barge train appears from around the bend and your still in the middle.  :o
And again, don't ask me how I know.  ::)

I'm in for weekend after next (18,19,20). Anybody else up?

I'm still up for fishing then as well.  Then again, I've had to cancel the last two weekends worth of fishing so I'm not making any promises.

I guess I used up all my mojo on Friday.  No fish yesterday and no fish today.  I did hook up with a sturgeon for a couple of seconds durring the outgoing and had a mean salmon drive-by late in the day around coon island but couldn't capitalize on either. #$^%&*()
It was good to meet Steelheadr and Slbrow6 and to fish with Threeweight again.  I felt kinda out of place though cause all three of them were sporting pimped out OK Prowlers.  Nice rides guys!
Steelheadr didn't listen to my advice and started down the road to upgrade insanity.  I'm telling you man, it's not going to be long before you're running electronics, side pipes and neon running lights like the -Z- man....

I think you used up all the mojo for all of us.  :D  Overall, a great day for a paddle. I hooked a number of chunks of wood, picked up a fair amount of floating trash and learned a few tricks to help in the future. I've already ordered a Scotty extension and will be adding a second mount a bit farther forward. Tomorrow I'll be rigging a pulley system in the pole barn to get the yak off the dirt floor. Next project......the anchor and trolley.   ;D

Thanks to Spot and Slbrow6 for the company.  I didn't get to meet Threeweight - next time though.

As the old saying goes, there's a reason they call it fishing and not catching.  Sorry I couldn't get out with you guys today!

Anyone considering any fishing after work this week?

Enjoyed the company this weekend, but no fish.

Disappointed by your fishing trip?  Check out my current streak.
- Springer/Sturgeon:  4 Trips this spring, 0 fish [Willy & MC]
- Steelhead: 10 Trips this winter, 0 fish [Non Kayak trips on Sandy, Clack & Kilchis]
- Bass: 4 trips last summer, 0 keepers [Tualatin River, Willy, Hagg Lake (a few 4" smallies were hoooked, but don't count), Benson Lake)]
- Trout:  3 trips last summer, 0 fish

Total fish caught kayaking: 0

Last fish caught:  Couple of barley legal rainbows at Badger lake last summer caught on a fly in a float tube.  That's 17 trips ago!

Maybe I should try golfing...

So it doesn't have to be a total loss, I'll give you $200 for that yak  ;D

Yep. Been there. Sux but it'll end. BTW, never give in to the evil clubs. It's a steep downhill slope from there. Before you know it you'll be saying "Yeah, I used to yakfish but..." :confused1:

Hmm... let's see my progression since the mid-1990's has been...  Kayak Fishing->Rock Climbing->Surfing->Kayak Fishing.  I seem to move about every two to three years and tend to pick up new hobbies/sports with each move.  I'm really tired of that trend.  At least I've managed to avoid the $$ traps that are skiing and golf.

As for fishing (I've always fished.. kayak or not) it usually takes me about a year or so to figure out what the heck I'm doing in a new place.  I'm hoping to shorten the learning curve this year, but here I am five months into living in Oregon and I have no legal fish to show for it either.  We've all been there and here I am right there with you.  My need to rectify the situation is one reason I really like participating in the Angler of the Year tournament.  It's a great way to motivate you to try new types of fishing.
