What do you all prefer for on-water multitools?  The recent thread on self-hooking got me thinking about that need.  But I didn't want to threadjack.

I have a Leatherman Wave, Wingman, and two Old-school "Leatherman Tools." The Wave has so many more options but I always seemed to want to go to the tool with the least amount of options. I've settled on putting the basic Leatherman Tools in a couple of "Survival Kits" and I have my Leatherman Wave in my truck (along with a Leatherman Flashlight). I usually have my Leatherman Wingman in my pocket as it seems to do the trick. I'm surprised as to how many times I use the scissors function each week.

Good thread. Thanks.

I got a pair of nice side cutters and a matching pair of needle nose to deal with the event of a self hook situation. They are strapped to my milk crate. I've been searching for a nice knife for my PFD and I found this sweet little piece at a local dive shop. It's a little spendy though.

It's pretty slick. I like that it has the scissor action and a serrated edge. Not exactly a multi tool.Leather man wave is a nice setup. I used one when I installed fiber optic services years ago.

Gerber Recon. have 4 of them. Hit 'em with a bit of WD 40 and some lube every 6 months and they've lasted me many years.

+1 on the Leatherman Wave. I've had mine for 6 years now and I put that thing through the ringer. It still works like a champ. Speaking of which.. I should probably take it in to the Factory for a "tuneup". The pliers on them could use some sharpening.

+1 on the Leatherman Wingman, got a bigger beefier one for X-mas a couple years bag and traded for the Wingman fits nice in the pocket of my pfd and not too bulky.  Use it everyday and fishing.

A quality set of pliers is a far better option than a multi tool for dealing with a stuck hook on the water.
