Hey,
My name is Gary and I moved to the Portland area late last Summer from San Diego where I had lived for 8 years.  I've been kayak fishing for most of that time and after landing a yellowtail early on I was hooked.
I recently upgraded to a PA 12 from Next Adventure (who did a great job) so I am anxious to learn the local waters.  I must admit it seems like the learning curve is a bit steep here compared to trolling a flylined Mac in SoCal.  Seems like this is a great forum to get to know the ropes. Hope to join a few outings and meet some folks soon

Always cool to see another SD transplant!  Go Boltz!  I moved up here in 2007 from OB and my wife is from the east county area.  It is a steep learning curve for sure!  I miss the days of working the Point Loma kelp in my board shorts.  The plus side is that there are WAY more fisheries up here that will keep you very busy.

Welcome.

The big difference you will find is the water temperature.  It is cold all year round.  Dress for immersion.

Welcome aboard Gary. I also grew up down south, and cut my teeth on Yellow, WSB and Dodos during the warm years. You'll dig it up here, just get a good warm set of clothes as the weather up here plays for keeps. Then get set up for some salmon sleigh rides, you don't want to miss those.
