Remember your safety gear, and practice your self-rescues.  It doesn't sound like the victim was a fisherwoman, and the article says nothing about her saftey preperations, but it is still a good reminder of the dangers we all face.

Condolences to her family and friends.

She had, "some experience as a river kayaker and was well-equipped with a helmet and life jacket".

+1

Practice, practice, practice. Not only in pools but in the waters you frequent. We do a risky thing with eyes wide open. It's our responsibility to mitigate the risk.

Wow, bummer.  Keep this stuff coming, I need all the cautions I can get, I'm older but not as much wiser as I should be, no one ever had to tell me to "throw caution to the wind".

Condolences to the family & friends :(

Its always tough to read these stories (there seems to be quite of a few of them too  :'(). I can't imagine what the woman's family and friends are going through...

Looks like the other guy never had been in a kayak... "Deputies said the man had never been in a kayak before."

The news report make it seem that the river was in really bad shape to be kayaking there too.

Thoughts and prayers to the families.

You know, now that I kayak, instead of sitting in a heated cabin of a boat, I sometimes think they did such a good job in promoting life jackets for safety that many think that's all they need.

I would be interested in what was the cause of her stopping to breathe if it can be determined.  Cold? Or some physical trauma ?
