Good day everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself.

I have never fished from or ever even been in a kayak but my wife bought me one on Saturday for my birthday/fathers day present.

Been researching them for a little while, and the idea has always intrigued me. Just couldn't bring myself to part with what an actually boat and motor costs.

Then I saw that Dicks Sports had the Eagle Run Fishing kayak on sale for $449 and when the wife saw me researching them she asked me how much they were. Then Saturday morning we went and picked her up.

Done lots of fishing from a canoe but never a kayak. Looked like I would be able to learn a lot about it here and look forward to the search for new knowledge.

Hoping that later this week, if I can get all the work done around the house, I'll drop her in the Willamette for a little practice paddle.

If there's any suggestions for a noob paddler that any of you folks have, please feel free to let me know. I'd rather be safe and have fun then get wet and cold while watching my new kayak sink.

So, Hello to everyone, and thanks for the help in advance.
We're gonna need a bigger boat!!!!

Welcome!! You've come to the right place.
There is a ton of great info on the site. Use that Search function, it'll be your best friend and also don't be afraid to ask questions.

Welcome!!! Without a doubt the best place to get info for any fishing in the Northwest. A few things are very different than the posts on National sites that tend to be a lot of warm water folks.

Let the addiction begin!!

Another big Welcome here.    The Eagle Run was my first Kayak also.   Though it feels so stable I can't imagine I could every tip it,  I found it assuring to check out some YouTube videos on how to get back into it if in deeper water.   I have yet to ever have a question that this forum doesn't come through with answers.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

I notice you didn't say "good answers".   You're absolutely right, usually we'll give you several answers to choose from.

Welcome to the site Injun51, I promise we'll work hard to give you good answers.
