I have one of the yak attack visi carbon flags that I never use b/c I feel it us too short. I fly a $6 whip flag  that is probably about 7 feet tall and I have had power boats say it is still tough to see us if there is any swell out.

The nice thing about the visi cabons is they are modular.  If you want it taller, hit Luther (owner of Yakattack) up.  He'll provide extra sections with a new length of bungee that will accomodate the extra length.  Their customer service is amazing.  I broke a section and they replaced it free of charge with fresh bungee and stickers.
You can also buy the taller flags from their site.  I'm not sure if they carry them at any of the local stores.

Ya I contacted him and told him I wanted to add two sections. He advised against that dues to the system not being strong we enough. But he said he would sell one additional section.
I went with my whip flag instead. I'm not impressed with they guy.

I stripped a medium heavy salmon pole and mounted a 16 inch orange square flag on it. The pole had a broken tip and breaks down in the middle for storage. A 3/4 inch PVC pipe attached to my crate is its permanent mount. All in all about 5 dollars invested for an 8 ft flag.  (The rod was free at a yard sale.)

Ya but I wanted a different answer. ;D

I really wanted to love the product but it just doesn't fit the bill for a good safety flag.

Then again neither does the Scotty flag. Both too sort for fishing in any swell.

What I need is a cannon on my kayak that pops out of the hull James Bond style (or Spy Hunter). Then when some big boat wakes me or moves in too fast I can get their attention.

Yeah, I'm sure shooting a sling shot at a power boat would go over really well.

Just a reminder:  Powerboaters are our friends.  There are dicks everywhere in the world.  99% of my interactions with PB'ers have been great.

Yeah I fish out of a powerboat. It is the driver not the boat.. That's clear but it's also fun to have a little rivalry

Powerboats may be our friends, but the Captain of the Portland Spirit is a douchebag. He intentionally crowded Jammer and I earlier this week on the Willy. He had the entire river but decided the 10-15 feet from the docks where we were was where he wanted to be too. Then he had the audacity to come out of the wheelhouse and curse at us.
