HOW Rescue Training

Thanks to Next Adventure for loaning us their Guide and Coast Guard vet, Shawn McClure. Yesterday several HOW volunteers met at Chinook Landing to practice rescue techniques. Thanks to Ken Netzer, a retired Air Force Physicians Assistant, we also learned about SIPE, Swimming Induced Pulmonary Edema, a condition similar to pneumonia brought on by immersion in cold water.

We'll be continuing to practice our rescue techniques together and will invite others to join us. Let's be safe out there!

It would be great if we never had to use any of those techniques taught to us Saturday, but if a situation arises, I feel like we are much better prepared.

We will be doing more rescue training and will post it here. However, this is designed for HOW Volunteers and may be limited in attendance depending on resources and location. Stay tuned.
