AOTY Youth Division

What are the rules and how does one sign up a Youth? I'd like to get my grandson going in this.

Just sign the kids up.

We're loose with the rules for the kids division, as long as a kayak is involved.  You can help them all they want, as long as at the end of the day, you can say with clear conscience that your kid indeed caught the fish.  It's all about getting the kids out fishing

Just for example:  Hooking the fish and then handing the rod over for the kiddo to real in would be taking it too far.

And I would think even that may be appropriate under some circumstances.  Use your best judgement dads (and grand dads and moms ...).  I don't want to teach the kids about the rigidity of our "adult competition".  The way I put it to someone else that asked was,

Anything goes with kids, as long as you don't reel the fish in and hand it to them for a picture.  One must ask them self this question, "Would I, as a proud papa, say that my kid caught this fish?".  If the answer is yes, then it's fair game.
