Holy smokes that is just a hole to go through.

The "Hole" is 50'X300' . It seems pretty skinny if you meet a charter boat half-way through.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Couple questions:

Quote
- Everyone must follow the standard Depoe Bay protocols when leaving or entering the bay.  If you don't have a VHF, you must exit and/or enter with someone who does.

Exactly what is the protocol and on what channel? I have to admit, I'm going to be a bit freaked out if I have to share this "shoot" with a 60' PB.

What is considered a signaling device. A flag, Whistle, mirror?

Thanks, Mike.

Whistle is a signaling device.

To enter and exit the harbor, turn to channel 80. "Two kayaks outbound Depoe Bay, two kayaks outbound Depoe bay." Sometimes the Coast Guard will confirm, often not. The PBs will follow the same protocol. Monitor 80 and 16. If you are in the hole and you hear "Charter vessel inbound Depoe Bay", get on the radio and tell them you are still outbound and to please hold until you get clear. Also, try and head out in groups of kayaks if possible.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Not sure if it has been discussed yet or not but are there plans for parking?  The reason I ask is because if everyone doubled up that is still ~40 vehicles and the lot is rather small.

I'm still needing to program the important channels into my new radio.  So 80 is used by the CG and vessels inbound/outbound at Depoe Bay.  And I understand 69 is generally used by the group.  Any others to note?

Thanks,
Sam

Parking will be tricky. Please try and commute with someone who has a trailer and can haul a few people.
Is there anyone at this point that can assist with carpooling others to Depoe? If anyone has extra room in their rig, please chime in.
