Hi, recent ocean kayak convert, long-time canoe paddler and life-long boater. I have a Malibu Two XL that my wife and I use, a Wilderness 16 foot SOT, and my kids each have a tiny SOT. I also have a 21 foot sled, but that's a different board...

Pretty stoked at the opportunities to fish out of the kayak - I had no idea until fairly recently that you crazy people were catching fish in the ocean and pulling up sturgeon in the rivers, and I figured that was something I had to try. My first time out in the ocean we caught a couple of rockfish and I guess you could say I am now "hooked" har har. Last night I caught two nice smallmouth behind Ross Island (Willamette River) from the kayak too.

I guess this isn't very interesting. Let's see... I hate abbreviations (yak, cab, ling, dino - you guys should learn to type faster) and I love catching fish.

Here are my two smallmouth from last night:

Welcome to the site ketapatterns!

If you have a free hour or so tomorrow night (May 21st) NWKA and Next Adventure will be hosting a kayak bass fishing clinic.   It's a great chance to learn a bit more about kayak fishing and to put some faces to some of the various screen names you see on this site.  If you can't make it this month, we plan to have a new clinic every month at Next Adventure until October.

Here's some more info about this months clinic..

May 21st 7pm @ Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center

Kevin "YakBasser" will be talking about bass fishing in the Portland area.

Expect a bit of a presentation followed by some Q&A discussion.   Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll have an on the water bass fishing gathering the following weekend.

Hey thanks to both of you! I can't make the class but we'll see for future events. Heading to the coast for the long weekend, hoping to get some quality time on the water (weather permitting).
