I fish, crab, and shrimp mostly in areas 9, 10, and 12.  Mostly from my 14 foot Pygmy wherry but sometimes from a 15 foot sit-in sea kayak.  I live conveniant to Sinclair Inlet and often launch from "the gazebo" public access on the southern tip of the Manette peninsula during salmon & crabbing season.  Locally I often target hood head just north of the hood canal bridge, point no point, and rich passage/sinclair inlet/washington narrows.  I also scratch around for red-tails from the beach and rockcod/cabs/lings/greenlings (with little sucess) from the Westport jetty during the winter/spring when I go out to twin harbors for razor digs.

From a kayak I've fished the Charleston SC jetties (mid-80's), the San Diego kelp beds (late 80's), Marin county CA rock reefs (early 90's), both coasts of the Baja (late 80's and early 90's), and Puget Sound (2000 to current).

I'm most interested in opportunities for fish that are abundant and taste good, not catch and release.  In calm weather I favor using my wherry instead of the kayak but unfortunately the wherry is a kite in a breeze and of course marginally safe when in gets rough and has no business out on the coast.  I'd like to do more kayaking for winter blackmouth, improving my catch out on the coast, fishing the islands, etc.

I also do a lot of foraging for shellfish during the winter/spring, mostly walk-in but sometimes paddle-in.  The Geoduck spot I use is boat access only.

For those interested in paddle/oar-powered fishing and shellfishing in areas 9-10, 12 and coastwise feel free to contact me.  No doubt sharing information amongst ourselves is the best way to nail down productive spots that aren't overrun by the powerboaters.  Speaking of which I intend to explore a shrimping spot near Holly this Wednsday, weather permitting, if anyone wants to hook up at the access point at Anderson cove.  I'll be using the wherry and won't go if it's too breezy.  I may also be prospecting a possible new Geo spot by wherry on the minus 3.5 at noon this Sunday, a short paddle from the Shine ramp on the west side of the hood canal bridge.  Given the last razor dig is also this weekend and it's a superb tide I'm flopping and twitching about what to do..... :)
