Ling Cod Shilshole Jetty

I have been scouring the regs for reasons to not fish along the outside of that jetty. So far I haven't found any reason I can't fish it but I am not the brightest bulb in the package. Do any of you know of any reason why I couldn't fish it (outside of there being no ling there)?

As far as I know, you can fish there, and there are lings there.

It's an older thread, but I wonder if the lingcod populations on the local jetties have rebounded in size and decreased in fecal coliform content in the years since.  I imagine those populations still get a lot of pressure given how easy they are to access.

I just fished shilshole and smith cove saturday. No fish didn't see anyone hooking up. Ok no lings I should say. Rockfish yes. And flounder plentius. Rhats all I could find. Tried sanddab point wilsons in a few color patterns,  grubs, scampies. Not the best ling water there. The rocks are close and the bottom is muddy. And you get to see giant rats eating barnacles . Pretty nasty

You bet! I have bonked several longs there.

CJB, I hear ya. I would be more concerned about population density than I am about fecal coliform. I think I have eaten flounder from that area once in fifteen years without issue but that doesn't mean things couldn't go south.
