ok how many people use circle hooks?  thinking of usin them on some of the fish in the sound since you cant gut hook the fish and the hook generally "hits the mark" in the corner of the jaw so it would be less fatal for the fish to be hooked if said fish swallowed your bait, etc. before you noticed... whats your thoughts?

Yes, the circle hooks work great. Just don't set the hook with a big jerk or you might lose the fish. Usually reel in slow and a few pulls sets the hook. Reel in slow at first until you know your hookup is good. Use the circles on catfish, sturgeon and bass before. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on more species as long as they continue to do the job.

They definitely take some getting used to. But I wouldn't use anything else on sturgeon and big catfish. If you land big fish which you intend to release or that you cannot harvest they are a smart idea because the hook rarely gets stuck deep. If you have had to reach down the mouth of an oversized sturgeon a few times to remove a hook you might give thought to using a circle hook..
