So never been out to the columbia river wa, looking to do some camping and kayak fishing this weekend. I would like to know if anyone knows a spot to camp and fish on the river. Thanks for the help

Most of the islands are open to camping.  Rivers running pretty fast and cold right now I've heard so be carefull out there.

Where you thinking of going? Near Puget and Tenasillahe islands there is a pleasant yet dredge-derived sandy island that is open for camping. I believe it's one of the few camp-sanctioned spots in the lower islands. It's a nice trip if you launch from Westport (parking overnight may be sketchy, though). You'll see the Columbia deer and get mighty close to some big ships.  Fun area for surfing the wakes....if you're into reckless boat play.  Can't vouch for the fishing, though.  But it's a killer spot in the middle of the river.  You'll have it to yourself...pretty surreal place.

Anyway, Google around; it's referred to as the eastern dredge pile of Tenasillahe.

Government Island has camping. It's very close to Portland, easy access from either Chinook Landing on the OR side or Marine Park or Camas on the WA side. Good fishing for salmon, sturgeon, smallmouth and walleye.
