I've just been given the green light to start up the "Barbie Pole " competition for this years ORC.

   Let the fun begin........

Having looked at past "Barbie Pole Competitions" here and on other sites--we need to set up some ground rules. So this is what I propose for 2013 ORC "Barbie Pole".

A $5.00 buy in to compete in this glorious competition.
Anglers are required to use the one piece, closed face reel combo's made by Zebco and Shakespeare.
   Changing line is okay.
Winner receives $20.00 (to cover costs of equipment) any other proceeds will be donated to the Depoe Bay Neighborhood Kids charity
    Competition will be on Saturday.
Anglers can still use "big boy" poles for the competition at ORC.
Catch must be witnessed or video taped.
    Heaviest fish overall wins.
Kiddie rod catches count for ORC.

That's all I can think of for now. Let the Barbie Brawls begin.

I will attempt to set up a Pay-Pal account for this. Or I'll take $$ Friday night an Saturday morning. If we can designate fish caught with a kiddie rod to the weigh-in crew that will help keep winning fish straight .

I'm sure there will be questions--and I hope I can provide the correct answers as this gets closer to reality.
 Here's a link to last year's thread.

Check it out and let's see if we can make improvements for this year. Thanks for coming aboard.

And watch out for my "Iron Man". He proved himself at Battle Ground Lake already.

bb2fish---I'm not sure what kind of "bonus" would work for you. Beside --you have to get the biggest fish 1st.

Paul---PM sent.  Hope you can make it in person to the party. If not --the kids will appreciate your contribution.

I sure hope my trailer sells tomorrow so that I can get a new Hobie outback and actually make it to ORC!

In the mean time, I might be jumping the gun but I just ordered my "Barbie Pole"
I got The Little Mermaid pole, I figured that would go best with my Seahorse handle & avatar. At least it's white and not pink! I just don't do pink!

Donating to Poseidon isn't so bad, maybe he will grant you new armor & weapons!

We want to keep the playing field level for all so the "Barbie Pole" should be one of the 26" , closed face reel, cartoon character themed poles made by either Zebco or Shakespear. The 2 piece rods with an open face spinning reel would be an unfair advantage. I have an ultralite  one piece Lamiglass with a Shimano reel I sometimes use for steelhead fishing--never tried it for rockfish--but something like it would certainly be an advantage.
Bottom line----let's keep it simple. Besides the fun and friendly competition--it's really all about helping out some local kids.   ;D
