Wait, Craig lost another phone??  :o
Nope, the only thing I lost was my safety flag.  I don't know how or when.  The camera I had with me stays in a dry bag (full of air) tethered to my kayak unless I am taking a picture. Then, it goes right back in the dry bag.  I have learned my lesson...twice.

Oh, man I thought the old Craig was back.  Were you able to get any to stick?

That looks like a lot of fun. By Kokanee you guys mean landlocked red salmon right? We have a lake up here with those. I might have to try it. RR where did you get that bag on the front of your outback?

Matt, you're right. They are landlocked salmon. They're basically landlocked Sockeye.
The bag is a Surf to Summit fish insulated fish bag. I think they may be liquidating them to bring in the new model so I got mine on sale online at West Marine. I bought the smaller bag (the one I used in the video) first, and I liked it so much I bought the larger one as well.

Merwin is producing nicely. Took me around 4 hours this morning to find my limit. Most fish were 13-14.75" with a steady bite. I threw back 3 of the smaller ones and left when the winds picked up. That lake can become a washing machine in no time flat. It went from glass to waves coming over the side of my kayak with whitecaps forming. That's when I decided to head in.

Good job RR.  I wish I could have made it out there.  I had to settle for smoking a brisket and cleaning out the garage.

Where are you launching?  I've never been there but would like to give it a go soon.

Speelyai is the best launch IMO. You can start catching fish as soon as you leave the launch.

Nice haul.  The fish at Merwin seem to be a few inches bigger than the ones in Odell.

Video report from Merwin. Fish are getting aggressive. They're deeper now, 40-60 feet, but it seems like the bigger ones are biting better.

Side note, I fished the red adjustable down rigger release clips from Shasta Tackle on this trip for the first time and I really like them. I dialed the adjustable release to my line diameter, and the rod was successfully releasing on a fish bite 70-75% of the time compared to 10-15% on the Scotty clips. I hate having to yank the line out of the release when I have a fish on. It greatly increases the chances of loosing the fish.
